Arnhem brings Northern Australian cultural heritage indoors. Based on the practice of basket weaving – a significant cultural tradition of Northern Australian Aboriginal women, specific grasses are collected and used especially for the style of their blades. Woven together in artistic and creative patterns, these baskets are still used in everyday life to carry items such as tools and food. Baskets made for fishing are especially prized. The shade is made by threading faceted glass and crystal coloured beads on wire. The colours of the beads also channel the Aboriginal system of dot painting. Deep and round in shape, the Arnhem pendent lighting series has been designed from these respected and beautiful traditions. It is a creative and luxurious light for everyday use.
